Improvise
from the
Heart ~
Respond
from the
Gut
Instructors:
April Green
& Mathew
Schreiber
The
focus of
this workshop
is scene
work and
acting skills.
We will
blend the
richness
of theater
with the
spontaneity
of improv.
This is
designed
for folks
already
familiar
with the
basics of
theater
improv.
We will
work on
developing
character
vulnerablity
and honing
the skills
needed to
weave strong
scenes into
compelling
stories.
Topics
include:
relationship
and connection,
staying
in the moment
and being
affected,
using silence,
playing
your objective,
organic
scene transitions
and edits,
and clarifying
the protagonist.
Limited
to 8 students.

"April
Green and
Mathew Schreiber
immerse
their students
in one of
the purest
forms of
theatrical
experience:
Long-Form
Improv.
They teach
you how
to act from
your gut
within the
delicate
constraints
of spontaneous
story. Any
storyteller,
actor, director,
writer,
comedian
-- can grow
with this
technique."

"These
workshops
are excellent
in their
own right,
and also
as a complement
to other
classes
taught
in Santa
Cruz.
They are
challenging,
exciting,
surprising,
deepening
-- and
fun!" -
